In addition to local MMA, Muay Thai fighters and Boxers, the 2nd Annual Edmonton Fight Scene Fan Expo is excited to be bringing some UFC level talent to you, the fans!
Here’s who will be present at the Fan Expo for autographs and photo opportunities:
Dan “The Beast” Severn
Dan Severn is an American mixed martial artist and professional wrestler, notable for his success in the early years of Ultimate Fighting Championship tournaments. Severn has fought and wrestled for many mixed martial arts and professional wrestling promotions, including King of the Cage, PRIDE FC, Cage Rage, WEC, RINGS, the World Wrestling Federation and TNA Wrestling. He holds a professional MMA Record of 98–16–7 and is a UFC Hall of Famer and a former UFC Superfight Champion.
At age 52, Severn still competes in MMA Competition and pro wrestling. Along with competition, Severn also makes special appearances and autograph signings. He also travels the globe instructing seminars in MMA, grappling, and amateur wrestling.
Dan will be making an appearance at Saint Pete’s Men’s Club on Saturday, March 26th for UFC Fight Night Live.
Martin “The Hitman” Kampmann
Kampmann is a Danish mixed martial artist who is currently fighting out of Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S. and trains at the Xtreme Couture gym. He is currently ranked the #6 best welterweight in the world by Sherdog, and the #7 by Yahoo! Sports with a record of 17-5-0.
Kampmann lost a very close decision to Diego Sanchez on March 3, 2011 at UFC Live: Sanchez vs. Kampmann in a bout where Sanchez pushed the action with Octagon control, but was left battered after 3 rounds of being peppered with Kampmann’s accurate punches and failing numerous times to secure a takedown.
Martin will appear at the Fan Expo courtesy of Kamikaze Punishment and Aggression MMA. He will also be at Union Hall on Saturday, March 26th for UFC Fight Night Live.
Jason “The Athlete” MacDonald
Jason MacDonald is a Canadian mixed martial artist who is currently fighting with the Ultimate Fighting Championship as a middleweight. He is also a veteran of the Maximum Fighting Championship and TKO Major League MMA in his native country of Canada. Born and raised in Merigomish, Pictou County, Nova Scotia, MacDonald currently resides in Red Deer, Alberta and fights out of Edmonton, Alberta.
MacDonald owns and runs his own gym, Pure Fitness & MMA, located in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. He also runs his own fight promotion called Pure Fighting Championship. He manages a number of Canadian professional MMA fighters, including Ryan Machan, Evan Sanguin, George Belanger and Derek Clark.
His current record is 24-14 and he is expected to return at UFC 129 against Ryan Jensen.
Ryan “The Kid” McGillivray
Ryan McGillivray is an Edmonton welterweight MMA fighter and it was recently announced that he is a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter 13 which airs beginning March 30.
McGillivray is also an MMA instructor and owner of Legends Training Centre in Edmonton. McGillivray was involved in baseball, hockey and lacrosse growing up but broke back playing lacrosse when he was 16. After rehab, he turned to MMA at age 18 as a new challenge and started training with MacDonald and former UFC fighter Victor Valimaki.
McGillivray is currently 11-4-1.
